Well some of the Star Hyke cast and crew were at Creation Entertainment's Official Star Trek Convention on Friday, April the 1st. The cast and crew were introduced onto the stage one at a time to no applause, which I think was a REAL SHAME. The trailer was shown followed by a smattering of claps. Then the Q & A Session started with a cheery "Did you like that?" responded by a resounding "No" from the audience. Andrew Dymond stepped forward to answer questions only to say he refused to answer anyone's questions, then hid behind the cast. So Jonathan Brown fielded them. The few people that asked anything asked why it was so purile, childish and sex obsessed, which Jonathan denied, but since that's all the trailer featured, made it hard to deny. When some pointed out it was trying to steal the "Red Dwarf" crown he said Red Dwarf wasn't sci-fi, which instantly alienated him from the entire audience who all know it IS sci-fi and EVERYONE knows it. Then after a couple of minutes they left, to slight applause again, which finished before the first foot left the stage. I was hoping to meet them afterwards to try to add some encouragement but they had fled the Convetion. Later in the day someone onstage jokingly asked if we wanted to see the trailer again and they were booed off. MY PERSONAL OPINION is this, it was WAY TOO EARLY in the schedule to show this. Since not everyone was present yet, and were probably tired from travelling there. What did I like about the trailer? I loved the look on Rachel Grant's face when Simon Lewis asks something like "Do you remember last night?", and the scene with the ship at the end was pretty cool, and very funny (not saying what that scene is for those who have NOT seen it). I KNOW it's always hard to get new projects going but the crowds seemed to have decided to hate it before they'd seen it. Probably a "It's not Trek" attitude. I'd also like to add that I was the FIRST and LAST one clapping. What else would I have liked? To buy Andrew Dymond a drink, but he'd stormed out before I could say hello

The only thing I would like to say is that the trailor was shown after Richard Arnold told everyone that the Star Trek Franchise is officially dead, with no further series or movies. I would be pretty upset by that myself. It must have been a hard act to follow.

Sigh! Here we go again,
I didn't get a applause as people were laughing as I tripped onto stage, I like to make a entrance ;D
One "no" to boo, big deal, you always get one. And people did applause after the trailer was shown, remember it's where people put their hands together and make a sound or are you confusing it with when RA left the stage?
I didn't refuse to answer questions, but we only had 3 minutes left and JB was doing a excellent job, if anyone wanted me they just had to ask a question. Yep the trailer is done on a old fashioned "Carry on" basis.
Red Dwarf please see how they really pitched it to the Beeb, before making judgment ;-)
Slight Applause - mmmm, what do class a slight applause from 30 people... as to being booed off you read Mark's report about that. After all come on, Richard Arnold had just said trek was dead, how would you feel if a show you loved and grew up with was cancelled. I admit the timing could have been better but blame the powers at be for that one.
Like to buy me drink, could have, I stayed outside in the dealers room until half way through max's talk, man is he funny. As to storming off, that was a real slow storm off seeing that I was the last to leave the hall, man I must learn to slow down, I could hurt the snails on the way out.
And from memory, you now owe me a about 9 pints :-)
Laters Peeps,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, As soon as Max was finished (they only gave him a short spot) I was straight out looking for Hykers. I really wished I'd caught you, as out of ALL the star cast of Star Hyker, it was YOU I really needed to see. Let's make it an even 10 pints, and you have a deal

Hello everyone, I've just joined while browsing for info on Enterprise. I remember that Star Hyke showing, didn't remember the title until I came on here though. I remember the crowd hating it and all the people shouting "NO" when they were asked if they liked it. I also remember one woman askign questions who obviously hated the thing as much as me and my friends did. It was just disgusting smut.

All I can say is that is was very well recieved at Memorabilia. As for it being digusting smut, personally i didn't think it was, especially compared to the shows currently running on TV. I think smut is too strong a word for the show, it is more inuendo. If you didn't like the trailor and won't be watching the show that is of course your choice, but hopefully you will give it the benifit of the doubt and watch the first episode. Yours Anneli

Hi Anneli,
I didn't think it was "more inuendo" as you put it, and I assume you meant "innuendo". The fact that most of the shots were underwear shots actually makes it more "soft porn" than smut.

What about the benefit of the doubt?
According to the Producer, just about all the, erm, "naughty bits" were in the trailer - so would you watch to see what the rest of the show holds for us?

Not really anything I can say if that's how you feel. I apologise for the spelling, but I didn't think I warrented being embarrassed by you pointing it out. yours Anneli

Recruited by "Jason" I was there, with Jason and a few others. Trailer was tacky and turned everone there away from the show. OH I tell a lie. One guy actually laughed at the trailer. This same guy seemed to laugh at just about anything else too. I even saw him laugh at an empty cup in "Cafe Chino", the Hotel's Coffee Lounge. Honestly, he was walking past the tables, looked down at a cup and stopped to laugh!

I HAVE A MAJOR POINT TO MAKE HERE
Spelling is NOT an issue on here - nor is grammatical correctness - it's about interaction.
I don't think it's fair to knock someone for their use of the English language - surely the CONTENT of their post and their OPINION is what's going on display.

I was sitting having a coffee and sandwich with Jason and Mark when he walked up to the lift and pressed the button and waited. When the lift came and opened he laughed at it and walked off. We all nearly spewed our coffees when he did that! LOL ! As for the trailer, I didn't like it at all. The jokes were stupid, the humour infantile and the acting was dire. HOWEVER, after reading entries here by "BigHairyKev" I am prepared to give it a chance. Thanks to "Jason" for the invitation too.

Hi,
Thanks for comments, if you don't like it and you think it's nothing more than soft porn (which it is not) then don't watch it. Everyone else will see it and you'll miss out, no one is holding a gun to your heads.
You can't please everyone,
Andrew

Spoiler...
I watched very little of Lexx, as I didn't like it either. The trailor was not entirley composed of naughty bits. And without trying to give the whole trailor away to those who haven't seen it, there were scenes of the female cast in lingerie (whcih was part of a dream sequence) and of Rachel after she leaves a strip club, also in lingerie. There were more "normal" scenes than naughty bits.
As, I have said before, the trailor was watched by over 500 people at memorabilia and we only had one person state that they wouldn't be watching. We had over 100 comment forms filled in all with positive feedback. I assure you it isn't all "soft porn" and I hope you will still give the show a chance.

Sorry for re-posting but I just remembered what I also wanted to add.
If you have watched any Carry-On films, you will know that is suggestive and a little naughty, that is the way Starhyke is.

I have to say, what I've read about the trailer isn't filling me with confidence I was expecting Red Dwarf style antics, however it sounds like we might be getting the British version of Lexx (which I didn't like). Can anyone reassure me that isn't the case? i was at the london star trek con and the guy talking about star hyke (sorry cant remember his name) said it was different to red dwarf he said red dwarf was not sci fi and said it was a situation comedy which happened to be set on a spaceship ?? Sorry to be stupid but isnt this the same as star hyke??? i think he put people off when he said that as loads of people like red dwarf! hellsbells
