Hello,
I'm a big Buffy fan, and have recently found out Joss Whedon also did Firefly. I've not really heard anything about it, or watched an episode. Is it worth getting? I think I will buy it (put a bid on ebay). But how excited should I be waiting for the DVD to arrive??
Cheers

Cheers To be honest, I hate it, but I never liked Westerns anyway. They are lots of faithful Firefly Fans on here though.

Oh dear, hope I've not wasted £20. Didn't know it was a western. Hi arbo! Tell you what - it's sertainly [oops a small typo there should be certainly - must have thought about Serenity] no waste of money (but I managed to get my box for 14,99 ;D ) Here is what I think 1. It is scifi i.e. good 2. You like Joss W's stuff, so this one has to be good too 3. You paid a decent price for it, which is good 4. And there is Adam mmmm Baldwin in it so, what's not to like??? Seriously though, I am *not* a Western fan and I don't like Buffy (sorry...) and I was force fed Firefly and got a lot of explaining from friends while watching it... And it took me some time to get into the whole thing... But that's me, a bit slow in the beginning and then full on And I love most series with spaceships So now I love Firefly and cannot wait to see the film Serenity. I think (I'm certain, rather) that you can look forward to a great Firefly weekend. Mmm you're so lucky - you still have unwatch episodes to watch! Good luck! daxmaryrussel p.s. did I mention that Adam Baldwin seems to be such a nice guy... mmm and good looking, however in Firefly his character is a bit obnoxious p.p.s. I had quite a bit of trouble with the whole "Companion" thing - seem to be such a "guy whishful thinking thing"

Hmmmm - well I like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" & "Angel" (Susieg got me into those) - but not "Firefly" as I'm not into westerns - I'm more into Sci-Fi & Horror (and collecting old synthesisers - but that's another story)

Ha ha, cool. I just needed a sci-fi hit, having recently moved I've lost access to all the BAB5 dvds and loads of star trek, blakes 7 vids, only have Buffy now, which is good. But occasionally I need a sci fi show. Only having the 5 terrestrial channels I only get Stargate Atlantis once a week. (is there anything else on terrestrial TV?)
So hopefully a new sci-fi show will hit the spot! I’m looking forward to it.

if you like strong and humeorus characters, not so clean living and the struggle against oppression i would recommend firefly. i was not sure of the series myself, but picked it up cheap and gave it a watch, and realy enjoyed what i saw( now i can't wait for the serenity film). dont be mistaken and think its just "little house" in space give it a watch and judge for yourself a big pity that just as it starts tyo get momentum it got canned.... maybe the sreies will get picked up after the movie ;D here's hoping

Hmm the "its by Whedon so it must be good like bufy & angel" line didn't work for me. I love Firelfy, and can't stant B & A...
I didn't think the idea would work before I actually watched it - but it is superb.

I watched the first episode last night, not made my mind up what I think of it yet. Definitely a big western feel to it. It's been a while since I've seen Buffy season 7, but is the person who plays Caleb the same as the captain of the Serenity?

Yup - when Firefly was cancelled - Joss Whedon used two of the actors for other shows Nathan Fillion played Capt. Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds in Firefly and moved on to play Caleb in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Gina Torres played Firefly's Zoë Warren and then played Jasmine in Angel. The parts in both Buffy and Angel were written for them when Firefly was cancelled.

Finally watched the entire series over the past 2 days. Not a bad series, I can't see why it was axed but certainly has nothing on Stargate SG-1, BSG or Farscape in my opinion but good nonetheless. It's very character driven which is good. My favourite character is Kaylee

^It got axed because intellegent shows like Firefly and Dark Angel don't last long on Fox. Firefly is amazing. One of my friends at college brought over his DVDs and we had a marathon, shortly afterward I went out and bought the series. It's that good.

That's good £13.99 not to bad!!! I've just read somewhere that it's out on the 27th. The Australian (Region 4 I think) is out on the 8th IIRC and seems to have more extras, most unfair!!

I went at it backwards and saw Serenity first. The resident Firefly fan kept pausing the DVD to explain things to me. The movie seemed like an extremely long TV epidsode, but it's reasonably good sci-fi. I like the actors.
