I had the pleasure of meeting BHK and SusieG recently in London and we had the most enjoyable and deepest of conversations on all things sci-fi, tv, radio a host of subjects. could have talked with them for about 5 centuries. ;D

One subject we spoke of was Gerry Anderson the background to Star Trek and I mentioned Space Patrol.

The Warp Core Readers know my affection for this wonderful little gig.

Not only that, but J Michael Straczynski cites 'Planet Patrol', its US release name as one of his favourites when he lived on the East Coast, I have the interview on DVD and his warmth toward this show is very clear. I'm told he assisted in the restoration of the lost programmes, but that is only hearsay. So Star Trek lovers and Babylon 5 fans, like myself, enjoy this little Warp Core News Desk...News Flash...

STAR TREK MAGAZINE, No.121,JUNE/JULY 2005 is worth getting.

Apart from a nice interview with Patrick Stewart at Starfleet Ball, it has a really interesting piece with Rick Berman in which it is clear that Paramount are working on something new for Star Trek, like Star Trek XI.

Its out now at £4.99 and is an Official Paramount Pictures Approved magazine.

I can only concur - I've subscribed on that mag for 5-6 years now and there are always good stuff to read in it, however this latest edition was very good.
The part about Patrick S made me really miss not being at the Starfleet Ball

There is also an interview with Manny Coto which I read this morning before going to work (no I don't have a newspaper) ;D where he talked about ENT season 4, which he was very pleased with - especially the eps with all the tie ins with the original series.

And, not to forget, there was a big postcard of an Orion girl

I must admit, I'm full of intrigue for the article about the future of Trek. It has been told to me (by the "Powers That Be" of Star Trek) that the franchise is to be given a rest for a couple of years.

I am rather interested in John Billingsley's idea though, that he suspects in a couple of years there will be a movie with a new ship and crew which will launch the next series.

Speaking about mags, I picked up the latest Dreamwatch magazine at the airport coming back from London the other day and there was a cute article in the form of journal entries. It's John Billingsley who wrote about his last week at Enterprise...

Hi Dax and Kev ;D

Rick Berman and Paramount have been investigating a number of Star Trek 'treatments' of late, whatever will emerge will certainly be a surprise and stories of all types persist.

The most persistent is that they are going to continue in Starfleets early years and probably for the next feature film, and there will be a film by 2007. , if its a 'pilot' film for a new series is very interesting...Kev, it sounds like a re-launch ;D What, third time lucky.

I never read morning papers, I always read sci-fi mags too and listen to LBC 97.3 for my news and comment.

Our problem Dax is getting our readers to overcome their reservations and post, its not something they have had to do in the past. Reading Warp Core Preach as a newsletter, and posting to it as a forum is a whole new ballgame ;D, no rules folks in this game...just post what you feel

Ok, news update for you Dax.

Met Kev and Sue yesterday in Black Horse, we had an excellent evening, Kev and I enjoyed some (a lot) of Fullers London Porter and conversation was superb.

Some of The Posse were present, but they had a 5 hour start on us with the drinks, so we left them to their own devices by the dart board. Brian was in good form, he too was pleased to see our friends. ;D

Its a shame our base is so far from the North East, mmm, maybe not the way we all drink, ;D but at least Kev and Sue have an Embassy here in London, so thats useful. ;D

So for anyone out there, here is a short report with photos from the Star Trek night last Saturday (May 28), here in the Delta Quadrant. The weather was really nice - and we started with 4 eps of Enterprise - so the turnout was not that great - approx 50 people came, saw and conquered the cinema theatre and roamed the square looking for Quarks, Ten Forward or any place to eat at lunch time.

A couple of crewmen from Enterprise NX (whatever/ you may notice Ent is not my fav ST series : and a happy guy in his TNG uniform on an away mission in a remote part of planet earth.


The trills Karin & Anita had their appearance surgically altered to work on earth. Before and After ;D


Three times Kes and Patrik explains what they do at Starfleet Academy all day (when not consuming copious amounts of root beer) - measuring. Hmm size does matter?


Movie night at Enterprise? Lunch in Delta quadrant.


O'Brien must have had some trouble with his time warp again - he managed to beam back to the 21st centuary to visit us. Anita later at pub trying again that sign thing Live long and prosper

Recent concerns about the future plans for The Experience and its possible demise are without foundation. ;D

It is true that stocks are low in the shops, but Paramount Parks have got a new, long term strategy for The Experience which will unfold gradually over the next 18 months or so.

The refurb of the Hilton will not be a cause for the closure of The Experience, but will in fact be an opportunity to improve the facility according to Paramount Parks.

Star Trek visits Stockholm tomorrow 6 July!


Robert Picardo, Holodoc from Star Trek Voyager will be at the Science Fiction Bookstore in Old Town (Gamla Stan) at 2 p.m.

It's this year's Cruise Trek that lands in Stockholm during it's Baltic Cruise. Be there early since the cruiser Westerdam anchors at Stadsgårdskajen 167, already at 8 am tomorrow morning, Wednesday 6 July.

People from Stockholm informed me that they talked about skateboard with Garrett. Apparently he had gotten ha role as a skateboarder in a film, but that role was cut before filming started or ?

Swedish trekkers met up with American trekkers in the harbour. My friend Pia was responsible for taking care of Bob Picardo and his family. Most of the trekkers went to the Vasa Museum and apparently John De Lancie had been at the museum at the same time, but they all missed him!

Great report from Sweden, once again Dax, you are a Star ......love the detail in your feedback.

I must say that John de Lancie is an absolute gentleman, in fact, I would go so far as to say he is so reserved he is totally UNAWARE of his impact upon the Star Trek world.

We met in Las Vegas in September 2002 by the pool at the Alexis Park, a fab resort based upon Emperor Hadrian's summer palace in Rome.

He was heading back to Los Angeles after a great day in the convention, he was a delight to be in company. I told him how much we enjoyed his role's in Trek, we spoke of his son, John was a gas.

We spoke of the popularity of 'Q'......he felt that 'Q' was more popular outside the USA......based upon his bookings outside the USA. If you get an opportunity to meet him....embrace it.

At the recent Expo visit, John was under the control of outside forces so he was unable to fully participate in meeting his fans, I'm sure that in Norway he will be able to enjoy his fans.

By the way Dax, Len & Fran are in Norway right now.......heading north to North Cape. They will be in Gothenburg soon, they will call you, they want to enjoy your company at Paddington's. A full report is required Dax.

I told them all about your English pub and they were keen.......big fans of Bella too.......they know she likes you too, so they want to meet.

Keegan de Lancie will move to Egypt for 1 year!

Just checked a Swedish ST message board and saw a repost of this letter from Keegan to Thomas (Thomas is a crazy Norwegian guy and one of the guys behind the first ST convention in Sweden last year with Tim Russ and now also the head guy for the first ever convention in Norway!)

Thank you for your enthusiastic response. I have been here in Stockholm for
about a week and a half now and have really enjoyed the city. As you said, I
did have the pleasure of meeting Irene in Copenhagen and she mentioned the
possibility of Trek events in Norway, which I would very much love to visit
sometime if the opportunity arises.
I'm afraid I don't think I'll be able to do anything in Stockholm this time
around, though. I emailed Carolyn earlier in the week hoping that we'd be
able to get in touch quickly, but unfortunately I'll be leaving Stockholm for
London on Monday morning (25th). I will be traveling from London through
Paris, south-western France and Spain until the 13th of August when I'll be
heading to Birmingham, England for a Memorabilia convention. I then will pack
up and move to Cairo, Egypt where I'll be living for the next year. I assume
we can't put anything together in Stockholm on such short notice, but I will
be only a few hours flight from anywhere in Europe for the next year, so
please keep me in mind and if anything comes up I'd be more than happy to
make the trip. Thank you for your help and enthusiasm and I hope to meet you
some day in the future.
