I have about 15 minutes of Keegan de Lancie, 'alfresco' in the bar at the hotel in Blackpool on the video for you. Check it out, he is really fab with everybody, a real gentleman and the only star who actually met the people in their own zone. His father was delighted when I recounted Keegan's courtesy to the Star Trek fans in England when John and I chatted in Las Vegas back in Sept. 2002, you could see John virtually preen himself Such a nice guy, hope he knows what he is doing going to the Mid-East at a time like this, but he is so affable and genuine he'll probably blend in. Check the vid dax ;D

This may not be news to all you folks .......maybe I'm the last to know.....but I figure......maybe its worth posting........there is a connection between Gerry Andersons work and Gene Roddenberrys work I'm downsizing my life as most folk know so I'm clearing out stuff, selling stuff and generally making my life less complicated so I can hit the road and return to my roots. But, when you clear out stuff you discover hidden gems, sometimes you stop what you are doing and start mooching. Thats what I did.....and discovered an OBVIOUS connection between Gerry and Gene whilst furtling thru an old book I discovered. The link is Fred Freiberger.......the same guy brought in by Gene Roddenberry to produce, edit and maintain the 'surprise' third season of Star Trek Season Three. NBC cancelled Trek, officially, after 2 seasons....so all the major behind the scenes guys found work elsewhere. After Gene's, 'Save Trek Campaign' NBC asked for a 3rd season.......and Gene, having lost all his production staff, brought in Fred Freiberger to get the season completed.....and within a very strict and reduced budget. Yep, I know, its history What I discovered today was that Fred Freiberger did the same thing for Gerry Anderson in the mid-1970's. Space 1999's first season was not as financially successful as Lew Grade had hoped, this was due to it being a co-production with RAI, the Italian National broadcaster, and so he could not control costs so effectively. ITV still needed a second series, so Lew Grade dropped RAI, went back to Gerry Anderson for the full production, who brought in Fred Freiberger as producer and story editor to bring season 2 in on budget. Oh, you knew that! Well, not all of us did.......and I pride myself on knowing a great deal about Gerry. Incidentally, further link between shows. A number of Space 1999 Season 1 episodes were directed by David Tomblin......he was the producer and part of the script team for 'THE PRISONER'. He came to Gerry after The Prisoner ceased filming on its 17th and hurried last episode. His first Gerry gig was one of my favourite 'UFO' episodes...'The Cat With Ten Lives', David did the teleplay and directed. He went on to 'Reflections In The Water' another superb UFO show, again teleplay and directing. His final UFO work for Gerry was the teleplay for 'The Long Sleep'. All of this work had a flavour of the Prisoner about them (maybe thats why I like them so much), UFO far more than his Space 1999 episodes. You see what happens when you downsize, you discover gems like these ;D Be Seeing You.

Check the vid dax ;D The video was superb! Thanks Anubs. Much better than the official Wolf vid. Yes, I finally got to watch your Real story vid - soo nice to be back in Blackpool and great to see all the fans and stars at the convention. Love your fascination for trams, btw Quality of video was really good. Fun to see that you guys seemed to try assimilate all the Borgs instead of vice versa ;D There were a couple of Sevens there on the vid Cool. I recognize quite of few of the convention goers, actually. Basically Trev and Don ;D and a few more. It was fun to see Trev taking the pics of "Data and Picard" - same pics I got from him ages ago... (Think I sent you one of them...) Anyway many thanks again. Would you be interested in a dvd version of it (easier to store). I'll send you a dvd of the Wolf vid - it's an OK vid which compliments yours (and I'm in it for 3 sec! can't understand why I wan't on your vid.. hmmm... might be because I was stuck in front of the stage most of the time) LOL Take care - hope all goes well, really bad with the recession thing coming on, hope you'll be ok daxmaryrussel

STARTREK.COM......A FUTURE? ? HOT NEWS. Looks like the future of Startrek.Com is bleak, the powers that be at Paramount have issued it with a closure notice effective 31st December 2005. No 2006 for this valuable resource. The problem appears to be a split between Viacom and CBS, these operations sharing in the Star Trek franchise, and the talk is that CBS may end up with Star Trek.......who knows what that will mean for the future Startrek.com are hoping to persuade Paramount or someone else to keep this valuable resource online, but at the moment, none of the management understand how valuable Startrek.com is.......typical. I'll try to find out more on this story, but right now, Startrek.com is kaput This whole new episode raises the question once again of Paramounts plan, if any, for the future of Star Trek. It appears that Paramount Parks will hold on to their rights, so The Experience should be secure, but other aspects of Paramount Group may have a different view......lets keep our eyes and ears open If you find out more PLEASE UPDATE to Warp Core Preach NEWS DESK

One more year has passed Warp Core Preach folks and what a year it has been ;D We have made many new friends, especially Kev and SusieG, had a number of fab get togethers and meets at The Black Horse and ExCel as well as Milton Keynes. Let us hope we can settle down in 2006 to greater contact between us all, 2005 saw Anita and others working hard in this direction, so we will have to match them in the New Year. I should be back on the board more often in 2006, still sorting out lots of hassles but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, maybe I'll get to go back to Las Vegas for a two week break in the Summer. I'll be issueing a new Warp Core newsletter soon too, with some new pics once I get them back from Kodak, and I shall be making an appearance again at The Horse, I've been off the scene since September. So, to you all, including Otter, thanks for a fab 2005, I look forward with enthusiasm to 2006. A Happy New Year to you all, and may The Great Maker always smile upon you. Peace and Long Life.

A little bit of info for the Gossip section. I've just viewed this afternoons edition of 'Through The Keyhole' BBC 2 courtesy of a neighbour who had the imagination to record it. The featured house belonged to Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed of Enterprise) located in the next valley to the famous Hollywood sign. Nice home with lots of little reminders of Ireland and Britain, and superb views of the city. Dominic recounted his love of Star Trek which started as a boy in Leicester, his passion for sand, sea and surf, and he recounted a great story of Bill Gates visit to the Enterprise set. Dominic turned up late one day, got told to get into character pronto and join the cast on set. As he arrived on the bridge of Enterprise as Malcolm he walked straight into Bill Gates who was speechless and nervous to meet one of the crew, it took Mr Gates a while to regain his composure and converse with Dominic in a normal manner. ;D Just for the record, Dominic is filming a horror movie due out next year and is awaiting a decision on a television pilot he has filmed. David Frost seemed to enjoy the interview and Dominic seemed thrilled with his gold key. Sadly, I have returned the video to the neighbour and was unable to make a copy. However, I'll find out from the BBC if they have plans to repeat the show at a later date and I'll copy it then. Incidentally, I think terrestrial television, probably Channel 4, is featuring a show on Great Actors. Patrick Stewart is making a number of very incisive contributions to the programme which I think airs on Sunday night. Patrick Stewart fans, check your TV guides for a precise time and channel. I'll try to remember to record it for none British residents and I'll make copies. Live Long and Prosper

VOYAGER is back on Channel 5 UK after it evaporated (was it beamed?) off the screen from Saturdays. Okay, I know many of us have the box set, others watch it on a 'bird' like Sky, Astra or Hot Bird, but many, especially students and others in education, low paid friends and youngsters generally may not have these options, or probably have never had an opportunity to view this fab series. So, if you live in Britain or parts of Europe with access to Channel 5 be aware that Star Trek Voyager is back on your screen, everyday, from 1.30pm every weekday afternoon. ;D You get TWO episodes per day, Monday to Friday, and it should make excellent breakfast television for the average student, most of whom wake up after 12 noon. Once again, time is 1.30pm, thats 13.30GMT UK time, 14.30 CET if you wish to watch in Europe. Happy viewing, Channel 5 seem to have a very 'clean' version too, the quality is superb which makes the viewing experience pleasureable, and the commercial breaks are limited to about 3 per hour.

I should have alerted you folks to this show a couple of weeks ago, but I keep getting diverted to other tasks, so better late than never 'How William Shatner Changed The World' is a Channel Five presentation for transmission on Wednesday, May 24th 2006 at 9pm and is a light hearted look at Star Trek and its influence in our daily lives. European Posse members should be able to watch this on Channel 5 via the channels Sky frequency on the Astra bird. I believe it is being transmitted in Germany on Pro Sieben or Kanal 9 too. I am not sure if is due for broadcast to North America or Australia, I have been in contact with Five but will not have an answer until next week. The show is followed by an episode of Voyager and Channel 5 is billing it as 'Fives Star Trek Night'. I will record the show on video, so I can make PAL copies for those who miss it, or are unable to view Sky. North America is on NTSC, so unless your video system is multi-format the video will not play on your video tapedeck...sorry Happy Viewing Posse ;D A

Christie's have confirmed that they will be handling the sale of ALL the Star Trek memorabilia for CBS Paramount Television Studios. The studio auction is from all 5 series and all the movie productions with the sale comprising more than 1000 lots of over 4000 items, the auction taking place from October 5th to 7th 2006. Christie's expect the sale to raise more than $3 million and items for sale range from Kirk's uniforms through to Picard's infamous jumpsuit costume. Models too will be sold, plus props, prosthetics and set dressings unearthed from 5 Paramount warehouses. Some items will go for reasonable prices, Picard's Resikkan flute from 'The Inner Light' episode TNG is expected to fetch a modest $300 and a miniature Enterprise from 'The Undiscovered Country' is expected to go for $15000 to $25000. Michael Okuda said "To several generations of people, 'Star Trek' was a cultural icon that represented our dreams, our hopes and our aspirations--- what we can become as a species, what we aspire to" he continued "And to have a tangible piece of that is to have a tangible piece of a dream" The complete collection set off this week on a world tour and is arriving in Germany this week, with exhibitions planned for London, Las Vegas, San Diego, Seattle and Los Angeles, with a week long exhibition in New York in the Rockefeller Center just ahead of the October sale. From what I have discerned the competition for artifacts will be high, the Smithsonian is after items as is the Museum of Science Fiction in Seattle, they already have the original captains chair from TOS so they will be sturdy bidders. Looks like the end of Trek as we know it, but, if you want items then keep an eye on this column and between now and October I will supply updates. We must try and see the exhibition when it comes to London, I'll try and find out more from Christie's in London. My thanks to Posse Founder Member Brittney Christian in Fort Lauderdale (floridatrekkers) for her valuable help in this post, and, my thanks to Reuters London for the details and the story. I think this auction is a definite indicator that the next Trek will represent a completely fresh start and an abandonment of canonized Trek... clearly, they don't think we'll ever need to see Kirk's chair or Picard's flute again. Time was all of these items were carefully catalogued and archived at Paramount. Now that CBS is in charge, they're blowing them out the airlock for profit. I guess they're determined to make money off this Star Trek thing any way they can!

My fear too Dale, and it prompts the thought of The Experience and what will become of it by the time the new film is ready. If existing canon is abandoned, so too will The Experience pass on, unless the new film adds a new phase to the story. At least we will all have a chance to view the items before the whole collection is sold on and scattered to the seven seas, I still have not heard the details of the London show. The German appearances have passed me by too, I must redouble my efforts. We have Summer at last Dale here in London, daytime temperatures have finally moved to 65F since Friday which is pretty poor compared to last year at this time, but any warmth is welcome. ;D

It is not often you see me here, very busy with the new gig but when I do turn up I always bring news ;D The latest news is that our very own local hero, Jason, is back in town from Wednesday for a few days break in West London from the rigours of Los Angeles. I am assured he will be in the Black Horse for a few good ales (he misses Fullers beer) and hopes to renew old friendships and enjoy a bit of R & R, so please chill if you are a big fan, just meet the dude in our convivial boozer. Jason, for the Posse who follow Trek exclusively is Marcus Cole, Ranger in Babylon Five and is a resident of our London borough. He is here to visit family and friends so we should not disturb his trip too much, but I am sure he will accept a beer of three, so you know the ropes I wonder if we could get Claudia down for a mini B5 re-union? Peace and Long Life

Rest assured Dax, as soon as Donut (with whom he is staying) informs me that they are leaving for the pub, I will drop everything and zoom over to The Black Horse with the camera ;D, a full report will also be filed. Jason is over for a family visit so I'm not too sure if he will appreciate a lot of fan action, so I'm sailing under a flag of convenience and playing the role of Jolly Roger the beer vendor and will reveal my true colours once we are all well sozzled. It was suggested this approach would be acceptable, poor Jason gets a lot of fandom in Los Angeles, London is the one place he never experiences it. I don't want to shock him when he discovers the pub is full of secret B5'ers and Trek types, could be a shock to the system. I hope Jason does not decide to stay in Donut's house all the time, that would be a killer, watch this space Dax. ;D

Anubis, do me a fave, belive it or not, he still ows me his autographa from a year or two back for some Klingon Blood Wine ( Home Made ) that I did for a taster for all to share, him and Richerd Biggs I understand finnished the bottle off in no time at all, from what I understand.
At the London Heathrow Hotel 2000 something?, if by chance you could get just one that would be nice, as I will then have to find the person it has to go to, that worked in the M-D at the end of the road to the hotel.
Signed Admiral D Freeman.

Good news for diehard Star Trek autograph collectors , especially if you lucky devils are going to Las Vegas ;D Scott Bakula will be at the convention on the Sunday so BHK will be able to get himself a genuine Scott Bakula autograph, lucky chap . It is certainly the first Trek appearance by Scott and it is very unlikely he will make a Trek appearance in the near future....so..this is the only chance to get his sig. I am sure our US members and associates will make a bee line for Nevada, I'm thinking especially of Monica and Dale as they are in the west. Happy sig hunting, and if you have a spare Scott Bakula photo sig I will pay you twice the value Peace. A

A SADLY, we fly home early on Sunday morning so we'll miss that day on the Convention completely Strewth mate!, I thought you were doing the whole weekend. Ah, but you are sure to make good friends and contacts while you are at Con with your effervescent personality, so you are bound to get someone to see Scott on your behalf, and, voila, you have the sig. I wonder if Dale is going to be in Vegas on that Sunday? If he is, maybe he could get you an autographed photo, he is very good like that. I'm writing to Monica this afternoon so I'll see if she is going to be in the city on that weekend, she is only an hours flight away in Salt Lake City, so she might be of help Let us hope that someone reading this in the Posse can be of help Kev, we are a big family and we may strike lucky. I am looking forward to seeing your photos of the convention and of your time in my favourite city, and make sure you go and see my mate Benny in the Margarita Bar at The Luxor and sink a couple of Negra Modelo beers. Ask for it by name and Benny will ask you how you know the beer, he knows that gringos never drink strong Mexican beer, so he will guess you are friends with the crazy English from London who drank his entire stock of Negra Modelo in two days ;D We tipped heavily too, so he ended up giving us tequila brandy whilst fresh stock was rushed in rather than us having to go elsewhere for our brew, which we would never do. Oh, and the food they serve is fabulous, mostly Mexican style, with lots of excellent meat dishes and chilli salads all served by the most delightful folks you will ever meet, especially the head waiter who is a total queen and the nicest guy you could ever meet, a real charmer. Peace A

Just dropped in to say 'Hi' and show my face, I will be back posting more often, and soon, but the new gig is proving to be very demanding. At least it is now moving into profit, which means I'll soon have enough beer vouchers to use at the Black Horse, Yippee!! ;D August was very slow, had to inject more cash in to the business so I missed out on the Dambusters drinkies in Scampton , but, September is really flying thank God I'll be in Holland in November at the Radio Day, so if you are near the Hotel Casa 400 on November 4th I'll buy you a brewski. If you need location details go to www.offshore-radio.de/radioday and look for Don Stevens when you turn up, I'll be happy to meet you and sink some cold ones I have missed the Reunion 4, seems it was a good convention, but I am aiming to get to Collectormania in MK, my new business permitting. Hope to see you some of you at Milton Keynes or Amsterdam, Peace and Long Life, A
