TV Guide is reporting that a pilot for the animated version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is now being produced. Set during the early seasons of the live action show when Buffy was at school, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan and Anthony Stewart Head will reprise their characters. Sarah Michelle Gellar, however, is unavailable so Giselle Loren, who performed the voice for the Buffy character in the two console Buffy video games, steps in. It is not clear whether or not David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter will provide the voices of Angel and Cordelia respectively. Rumours suggest, however, that the series will reflect the fact that the Scoobies memories were altered when Dawn was created, and so Michelle Trachtenberg will provide the voice of Dawn.

I don't think they should have set it during the series - as you know who survives and who doesn't

I thought bringing Spike into "Angel" ruined his sacrifice at the end of "Buffy" but it's made for an interesting "spanner in the works" for Angel himself.
Turned out to be pretty cool in the end.

Why not do a spike show as if he were still human for the first episode and then turned into a vampire for the second and forward from there? He does have a very interesting history with him having killed 3 slayers and all.

Well they have already filmed alot of the history which we have seen in backflashes - so they could use that as the base of the storyline. A "William The Bloody" would make a pretty good show - but would fans really follow a period drama? I think most would And since alot of the vampires and demons we've already seen were very old - there are lots of chances for cameo appearances from established characters

Interesting, I will await the showing before giving an opinion although the fact that SMG would not sign on as the voice of Buffy may lessen any interest.
I also thought our erstwhile Spike had only dispatched two Slayers. The following is from the Official Buffy Site and is the opening of Spikes Bio...........
'A cocky and witty vamp from 19th century England, Spike got his former (pre-bloodsucker) name, William the Bloody, because of his bloody awful poetry. In 1880 the sensitive poet was sired by his Vampire lover Drusilla and dubbed Spike because of his penchant for torturing victims with railroad spikes. Spike has killed two Slayers: one lived during the Boxer Rebellion; the second was a punk rock kid in New York whose trench coat has become part of Spike's signature look'
But we may have missed one

I stand corrected it was only 2 that he killed,my bad. But I am also not sure of not having SMG doing buffy. While I have not played the games it just doesn't seem right to do it without her.
