Just as the 200th episode has aired in the USA, the show has been cancelled! (That'll upset alot of our Members) Personally, I think the show had really lost it's appeal over the past two seasons due to attempts to change the line-up in an effort to keep it 'fresh'. (probably upset a few people again) "Stargate: Atlantis'' still appears to be holding it's head above water

I even started to enjoy the Ori and Vala is great fun. However, Sam has looked a bit off recently, like she is not there completely. Must admit that I wasn't so impressed by the 200th episode, it was a mis match i.e. a jumble of different things, even though the Farscape and Star Trek references were quite fun... but nja... not so fun... Bring back O'Neill and Jonas and kick Mitchel out, he's really not good in SG1... dax (who could rample on for ages about this, but decides to spare you al )

Mmm it does hurt Maybe they will continue elsewhere, that's what Robert Cooper, one of the producer says. Look at Gateworld www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/cooper_isg-1i_will_go_on.shtmlCooper: SG-1 will go onMonday - August 21, 2006Don't count Stargate SG-1 out just yet. Though SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running series (story), the show's producers are hard at work looking for a new outlet for the story to continue, executive producer Robert C. Cooper told GateWorld exclusively.
"As far as the future I can't comment yet because nothing has been confirmed," Cooper said. "What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We're just not ready to announce how."
A formal announcement from the studio and the network is expected later this week.
Cooper also emphasizes that, though emotions are running high among Stargate fans who have just learned the news, it is important to keep the show's ratings strong throughout the remainder of its run on SCI FI. "What's most important is that fans don't take out their frustration with SCI FI by not watching," he said. "In fact, what they need to do is watch both SG-1 and Atlantis LIVE and make sure the ratings stay strong.
"That helps prove to other outlets that might be interested in SG-1 that the show is still as strong as we think it is."
Could Stargate SG-1 find its way to yet another network in 2007? Or might the SG-1 team be headed for a TV movie, mini-series, direct-to-video feature ... or the big screen? Stay with GateWorld for the latest development

I just thought I'd add that I think the show lost it's special spark when Richard Dean Anderson left the SG-1 Team General Hammond was a great character to watch too. I know shows that run this long have to evolve, but it didn't work for me Hopefully the show will find a new network and keep going

I know shows that run this long have to evolve, but it didn't work for me Hopefully the show will find a new network and keep going Hopefully! Yeah, why don't we discuss it some more! I agree, Kev Stargate SG1 became a bit lame when RDA disappeared (as you say; Hammond was cool too - but I must admit Beau Bridges does a great job and is almost as good!). I didn't like O'Neill *at all* in the beginning - the humour didn't appeal to me at all. But... it grows on you - and RDA is a feast for the eye and I love the fact that the show does not take itself seriously (in fact I think it goes overboard sometimes, but I like that). Mitchell is a "lame" sort of rather bleak, boring character. A poor O'Neill copy which does not add to the ensemble (so much). It's only when he gets into his Farscape character (as in 200 when he is using all those guns) he's ok. About Vala - Claudia Black, also from Farscape. I now thoroughly enjoy that character! She add a lot of fun and her interaction with Daniel Jackson is fun, cute and hillarious! (I did not like her that much in the beginning either [does anyone see a pattern here? - yeah I did not like Patrick Stewart as Picard in the beginning either.... silly me]) because I thought she took something away from the Carter character... But now Carter and Vala are fun to watch - in fact Vala has done a lot to revitalise Stargate SG1 and I for one would have liked to see a few more seasons with the old gang... And yeah bring O'Neill back!! Please ;D dax (who used to be an avid trekker, but who is now a proper gater)

I also remember when SG-1 started, I was disappointed with it (back then how could you compete with a movie budget) but I watched it for years and it grew on me, I think RDA is great, and all the little jokes that get thrown in, especially that Maguiver re-mark by Carter in the first epp!! But when I moved house, I lost Sky1 so could not watch any more, so I’ve really been out of touch of the latest seasons. So I can’t say how it’s evolved. Did see one epp. with Claudia Black and can imagine it will be odd seeing the farscape people together doing something different. One day I hope that SG-1 will be shown on terrestrial TV so I can catch up!!

I was upset also by the cancellation. And I agree with the others about Mitchell and all. Personally I can't just follow along with Atlantis. I really enjoyed O'Neil and General Hammond being in Charge on the show. Now while I kinda quit following closely when the Ori showed up as a new threat I still tune in to the shows. and watch it whenever it comes on. I am gonna head to the petition website and sign up as well.

I am to let you know something guys, Cast your minds back some year to when they had the first con over here in the uk.
I asked one question to Carter, will there be more serices or a MOVIE!
At the time they had just started to write one and the word was that when the serice had ENDED, they would see to the movie.
So this is not just the end, its only just started to make the way BACK TO THE BIG SCREEN!!!!!!
Signed Admiral D Freeman.
