To start with I first read these books when I was in College and I was reading them as they came out so my thoughts may be a bit ecclectic. First off I finally found the book I needed to finish off my private set of the Tamuli and I haven't had the time to re-read them yet-- You probably think by now that I alway's say this but it is alway's true when I do so here goes.... This series has been maligned as a re-hash of the Bel/Mal series but if you actually take the time to read both sets then you will notice that while some things may seem to be formulaic you are just as drawn in and just as spell-bound as you were before. The differences are startling The characterizations are much different the writing style the same but alway's great. The Epic Fantasy has found a home and a new generation of writers. On top of this mountain is MR. David Eddings. and as readers we are blessed indeed. Spar Hawk is as the world knows the foremost champion of all Elenia, the church, and the world at large but what happens when he goes across the divide to the "other side" of the world is even better than in the beginning. I couldn't wait until these books came out in the beginning and I will say you will not be dissappointed. The character's have aged some have grown-up and some have moved on(God bless Kurach, may his name be remembered fondly alway's). We meet some new friends and make some new enemies along the way. but they are all in their own way's essential. and so my friends are these stories.

I'm now on the last few pages of the Tanuli and I've really enjoyed it. This is another great series, well done to the Eddings!! I still have The Redemption of Althaus to read then I don't know what to do...maybe go back and start the Bel again
