Check this out - He has a fan club in the Warp Core Preach section. We have met Leonard Nimoy, lots of Enterprise people, nearly the whole cast of Stargate etc. Look in the Famous Friends section & weep .......... www.rowlatt.org/OtterHome.htm

I finally got to meet my 'Hero' at The London Expo in may 2005
Despite a lot of negative feedback from other attendees I have to say Mr Nimoy was wonderful with me. I received a broad smile and he graciously answered a question for me. He even accepted honourary membership of EDF.
I was disappointed when the official photo shoot was cancelled, but at least I had a memorable exchange with him.

Lucky you. He did not look up, smile or say a word to me AND he signed my black pic with black ink. His whole body language said " go away". Everyone I spoke to had the same experience and some had travelled a very long way to see him. He was my childhood hero but he has tarnished that image - just a smile and some eye contact would have been enough. He was so busy ignoring everyone I Ottered him - and I DID ask him only he was too busy being an island to listen.

I see you have mixed experiences. Good that you're pleased with your meeting with Nimoy, Susieg! Jenny, I totally agree, he should have been more considerate to the fans... It takes so little and a sour face could destroy so much for a fan. Still, he has a lot of leeway in my book - since he is Spock - the very epitome of Star Trek to me! I have mixed feelings/experience meeting Mr Nimoy. I met him at the Creation event in London beginning 2004 and he was quite focused on the autograph writing - looked down at the picture most of the time. In a way he felt very automatic in his performance on stage (and half the time he showed some old slide show on how the made the whales in The Voyage Home). I noticed, however, that his hearing was not very good - really bad actually and it looked like he wanted to keep up appearance. I suppose he is a more introvert person, perhaps that is what shone through into his characterization of Spock and thats why we love Spock so much. Anyhow, I paid a good sum for having my picture taken with him (45 pounds I think ) and at the shoot he took my hand, said hello and asked my name and where I came from. The whole thing was very quick, shoot and all - but still very very memorable. After all - he *is* Spock I had to hit the closest pub and get a drink, I was very exited. At the evening event where he presented his Shekhina photographs - www.leonardnimoyphotography.com - he was more as ease and natural, but still a bit stiff... Anyhow, I would say it's partly his age (but then again Scotty was even older and much nicer, from what I've heard) www.trekkers.se/foto/spockand_i.jpgSorry for boring you with yet another long post So many stories... daxmaryrussel (whose car is called Spock, by the way, since it's green) --- "Evil does seek to maintain power by suppressing the truth." Sorry for boring you with yet another long post So many stories... daxmaryrussel (whose car is called Spock, by the way since it's green) Please dont apologise for lengthy posts....they are wonderful and NEVER boring! I for one love to hear others stories and experiences. I am pleased (and green with envy ) that you managed to get a picture with Leonard as that was the only negative aspect of my meeting with him. I am sorry Jenny you had such a bad encounter with him and I know by the Expo forum that you were among the majority who had similar meetings that day. I am a huge Spock fan and know Mr Nimoy is a very very private man. He is uncomfortable in the convention spotlight and I had also read he had hearing problems, but I do know he is more animated concerning his photography and writing. So it was armed with this knowledge that I approached him. We had wanted him to sign his LP from the 1970's but knowing how he reacts to certain aspects of his past we decided we wanted to have a good meeting. I also have to admit that I would have to say from the original cast James Doohan was the best to meet. I will post my encounter with him later Susieg

James Doohan was adorable - I wanted to pick him up and carry him home.He could barely write but smiled, chatted & happily posed with me for a lovely pic. Walter K was polite and looked up for a pic of us both together but looked ill & grumpy when I met him and George Takai was lovely. We had a good chat. Of the new cast , all the ones I have met have been friendly, Jolene was very shy & John Billingsley looks so naughty! Anthony Montgomery was at the Expo when Leonard attended - he had forgotten his passport & missed 2 planes and arrived at 3.15 for autographs - his queue was HUGE but again he had a friendly word & a smile for us all,. Sorry - another long post. I could go on for AGES.............
