Hi All
As we have a posting concerning Mr R Lowe I assume we are talking general.
I had the pleasure of meeting Charlton Heston (Taylor from the original Planet of the Apes movies) a few years ago when he was in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He was playing at the Theatre Royal with his wife. They were performing a two person stage rendition of 'Love Letters' I was not fortunate to get any pictures of the event, which I regret terribly now. But just meeting him was wonderful and something I will probably not get the chance of again.
He has played in a few Sci Fi movies ie The Omega Man and Soylent Green and even had an uncredited role in the 2001 remake of POTA.

He is one of the last survivors of the golden age of movies. I remember going to see The Ten Commandments which had been re mastered about 25yrs ago at the local cinema and it was spectacular. Although all of my friends thought it a little strange going to see an old movie at my age, but then teenagers are strange creatures (and I am referring to me) A few of the props used in this movie managed to appear in "Tapestry" an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.

SUSIEG,
I envy you that experience, love! I was not aware that MR. HESTON’S wife was an actress, nor that they had ever worked together, especially onstage.
MR. CHARLTON HESTON is an idol of mine because aside from being very masculine, he is 1 of the few actors in American Cinema who understands the use & value of Melodrama, something which made his performances in both versions of PLANET OF THE APES™ such resonant works.
I was not aware that the celebrities had to be exclusive to Genre Entertainments, but I thought that ROB LOWE’S involvement with THE STAND™ & ’SALEM’S LOT™ would qualify him for inclusion herein. If I was wrong to believe that, then please accept my apologies.

Malcolm
No apologies needed.
I did not know if it was just mainstream Sci Fi actors who were going to be included in the forum, some do not class the POTA movies as Sci Fi. I think the majority of actors have at some time participated in the Sci Fi genre to some degree. I have been a life long fan of Mr Heston's and it was a wonderful experience to eventually meet my 'hero' I wrote to him many years ago and he sent me a wonderful letter and a signed photograph which I still treasure. I am a great fan of the golden era of movies and of the versatility of the people involved at that time. Lydia Clarke Heston is a very gracious lady and they make a lovely couple.
I think it gives more scope to include more than just typical sci fi related stars. It is nice to see another Charlton fan on here.

SUSIEG,
Thanks, love, that’s a relief!
Why on Earth would PLANET OF THE APES™ not be considered to be SF?
MR. CHARLTON HESTON is not GOD™, but he plays a man who’s on a first-name basis with Him™.

I think this is a reference to tenguninja declaring that POTA wasn't Sci-Fi (depsite the starship and time-travel) - LOL
It's one of the top Sci-Fi Films of all time - YAY
Poor tenguninja - LOL
