The exact date is lost in time - but it was around June / July 1985 that I threw myself headlong into the music.
The two dates it could possible be are June 20th & July 15th.
The stage name of "BigHairyKev" didn't emerge until 1996 after using other names for eleven years like my real name "Kevin Anthony Simpson" and experiments with nicknames like "Keyboard Kev Kosmic".
After going round the big Record Labels of time - most only wanted to continue with their "established bands" - and the ones that were interested in me wanted me to change my looks - my music - where I ate - who to be seen with - what to release - when to release it - and "sign here for a five year contract".
Not wanting to be tied - or have want I was creating "changed" to fit the market - I created my own Record Label which became known later as "Dizzy Lug'ole Records".
I played solo - and in various bands - and released huge volumes of work - in 1987 I released a track called "Millenium" as it was the 1000th piece I'd composed.
I worked for other studios and recorded hundreds of cover versions on synths and karaoke backing tracks that are still being re-released today - I had a choice of putting my name on the track - or getting paid - I took the £15 per track but regret that now - but the income is how I built up my studio.
I retired from gigging in the late 90's but made a special for my 30th Birthday.
These days - I'm rebuilding my old back catalogue and re-recording some of the older tracks (that were done on multi-track tape) - digital remastering is cleaning up some of the vintage recordings. ;D
