THU. AUG. 19/2004/23:59 E.S.T.
We received notification today from WORKING TITLE FILMS™ that they have passed on our offer to come aboard FINNEGAN’S SQUAD™ for a U.K./Canada co-production.
They were very decent about it, citing that their commitment to 90 min. feature films is stronger than their desire to become involved with a Science Fiction episodic that they are convinced will have an onerous SFX budget.
This business isn’t as easy as MESSRS. JOSEPH MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI, CHRIS CARTER & GENE RODDENBERRY made it look!

No but I am sure that the first few times Roddenberry approached someone and said "It's like a wagon train to the stars" he probably got a few turn down's also--But keep up the faith and thy will be done At least people are looking at it and offering GOOD feedback!!

LADYTASS,
Given that STAR TREK™ bears not even a passing resemblance to WAGON TRAIN™, that would not surprise me!
Yes, what you say is true, which is why I am not feeling dejected. The fact that we received any response @ all is pleasing to me, given how shabbily Canadian production companies have treated us, so I am well-versed @ accentuating the positive.

LADYTASS,
Thank you for asking!
The search for a production partner is a slow process, I’m finding, as the wealthier people get, the more conservative with their spending they become.
However, I hope that our having established how much we can do with very little money will stand us in good stead in future negotiations for more production budget.

Sorry to hear about the set back After all of the work put into the project it proves the commitment is there. Sometimes these companies need to get out of their safety nets and take a chance. When you see the hours of endless junk churned out by the majority of the studios I am suprised we actually bother with a TV set. Hold on.................. I dont well at least not very often. I am now very choosy in my viewing habits. With your obvious commitment to the series I am sure a company will be found. Susieg

SUSIEG,
Thank you very much. It’s nowt personal; it’s Show Business, nothing more than we expected. There was powerful opposition to THE X-FILES™ on the basis of MR. CHRIS CARTER’S casting decisions of DAVID DUCHOVNY & GILLIAN ANDERSON, & look how *that* turned out.
I applaud your selectivity about your viewing, for your time is precious & if a programme does not pump your ‘nads, then cut it loose; life’s too short to waste it on things that do not enrich it.
“What a jolly bad show if all you ever do is business you don’t like....”<br>-IAN DRURY
