Since we have some fans of BHK's music on here, I was thinking we could maybe interview him about it. It would also give an insight into his work for those Members who joined the Forum for other reasons (Sci-Fi). Actually, I think I'll start it off anyway, lol... Hey BigHairyKev Can you tell us what you play? What was your first release? Fave instrument? What gear you take on a tour? What gear is in your studios?

Can you tell us what you play? What was your first release? Fave instrument? What gear you take on a tour? What gear is in your studios?
I'd like to add...
Where would we have heard your music? (apart from what I've heard) Has any been on TV or radio?

I was getting around to answering this one when I noticed some extra questions - thanks for taking an interest Hi Proxy Q. Can you tell us what you play? A. I could take that a couple of ways... Style? - anything I fancy at the time - Pop, Rock, Ambient, Jazz, I've tried everything over the years and not just stuck to any one genre - so I created my own genre "Synthhook" which only I create. Instrument? - all instruments - although my main instruments are synths and keyboards I'll turn my hand to anything that makes a noise! Q. What was your first release? A. Album "Digital Debut" - from which the first single release was "Hurtling Through The Void" - both in 1985. Q. Fave instrument? A. Depends what I'm recording - but the Yamaha keyboards PSS-680 & Yamaha DJX are mainly used for composing the music on. Q. What gear you take on a tour? A. I always have the Yamaha PSS-680 on stage with me alongside one of my Commodore Amiga Computers - Roland Aplha Juno 1 - Jex SX-1000 - Korg Poly 800 - everything else swaps around depending on what I'll be playing. Q. What gear is in your studios? A. Far too much to mention - but I've just added a Roland D-20 & W-30 - there are loads of synths here at the studio - plus a few guitars, flutes and percussion instruments. Hey Wendy Q. Where would we have heard your music? (apart from what I've heard) Has any been on TV or radio? A. Everywhere - alot of it gets used as background music on TV shows & adverts - and my backing track cover versions are on every karaoke system in the world - I also tend to get played as background music in shops accross Europe, Australia & USA. Well that was fun - for me anyway - hope I didn't bore anyone to death - lol - if you have any more questions - just post a reply and I'll be happy to answer them

Thanks Kev for humouring us, lol. I looked up the keyboards you mentioned. Any chance of seeing a photo of you and your keys?

You were going to start a synth discussion section if I remember correctly, I would love to see that. Although maybe after the graphics upgrade you mentioned Kev.

Here's one for you BHK! (I've been doing some research) What was it like playing in Japan? Your observations of the culture and people? Communication barrier? Do you speak Japanese? And how did you get all your massive keyboards and stands into your "carry-on" baggage?

Sorry I'd missed this one with all the posts going on Japan was quite a surreal experience for me - but I'll be adding more on this next time I'm on as it'll be a long post I took no keyboards at all - only an Amiga hard drive with some backing programming on it - and "Dizzy Lug'ole Records: Japan" provided the stage gear needed - including some synths I'd never even seen before (one of which I was allowed to keep - a Yamaha DJX) - I played some of my classics (Corners, Glayvamatic, Wavelength Whisperings) - a few ones from my then up-and-coming album "Something For The Weekend" - and a few improvised pieces More later ;D
