For a short while, I thought I'd sit back and see if the Forum could live on without me. Then other things got in the way, and the short while has now been far too long. Has social networking really killed off the forums and bulletin boards?
What do you think?
Cheers, BigHairyKev

I don't know - I could never understand the whole "social networking" thing - facebook etc - people are far too quick to give up way too much personal information to these sites (as well as info about their friends and families too (often without thinking or permission)). As for this forum, I don't know what happened - it seemed almost overnight that a lot of people deserted it. Where did they go? None of the local scifi/trek groups post, are they still running those groups? I have noticed on several other forums i frequent that numbers dropped off too over the last few months (lol am I the cause hehe) , but other forums have increased their membership. I suppose a drop in decent scifi related films and tv shows etc may have contributed a little. dunno

Where did they go indeed…or is it, Where do we go from here…( The battle's done, And we kinda won.) No I don’t think you are a cause…unless there is something you’re not telling us!! SO which other forums do you visit, and which are gaining in membership? It is a shame there is little good sci-fi on TV at the moment!!

I agree there is so much out there to social network on. People now-a-days want to be popular and "in". Face book, twitter, and myspace takes up more and more of their time as they rush to share their life story with any and everyone.
I cant see me giving out that kinda personal information. But who knows?
Arbo is right about Sci-fi on TV and movie. Hardley any left at all. I dont know about the UK's tv/movie status but here in the US Hollywood has literally ran out of movie ideas. They are revamping old movies and pushing them out of the door to make any money they can. Any idiot here can get a tv show if they can hop on one leg, twirl around, chew gum, breathe, roll their eyes and make armpit noises while wearing a flaming sombero all at the same time. (teeth are optional for tryouts)
Me---- I visit this site about once a week. I sign in when I either got to reply to something or I have a question or spotted something on a film that I thought would be of interest.

I have been very absent from the forum to my shame. I used to post quite frequently and have to hold my hands up as I have succumbed to the trivial addictive games on Facebook. I used to enjoy sharing new tech and discussing any upcoming new Sci Fi shows. I will have to make more of an effort and get back into the old routine of frequent visits and sharing the joy of Sci Fi with like minded friends
