I've seen it a couple of times now and I have to proclaim it LAME. First off, the image of the show is reduced pretty drastically to accomodate the frame... so much so that it really becomes background. The chat window at the bottom of the screen contains dumb comments from the audience, most oddly enough to do with TNG, and chatter from people playing the "Spock market" and talking about its fluctuations. The running ticker of Trek events on the right is mildly amusing (a running tally of things like "phasers fired, dramatic music stab, vulcan salute"), but only for a moment. The only truly innovative bit is the Spock market ticker. One buys and sells shares of the characters based on the viewers existing knowledge of Trek episodes - you know to buy lots of Kirk (JTK) as his "stock" drops while everytone thinks he's nuts for obsessing over the vampire cloud, for instance, or to dump Kirk before he has to sacrifice Edith Keeler and reaches his "let's get the hell out of here" low - and then makes or loses virtual money. I can understand the attempt to repackage and thus revitalize TOS, but I'd rather see the episodes with, perhaps, background interview segments with the actors and/or production team bracketing the commercial breaks, or perhaps digitally enhanced with fresh special effects. The only upside of this presentation is the fact that the eps are presented uncut... not without commercials, mind you, but as originally broadcast. There's also a mildly interesting crawl at the top of the screen with background facts concerning the reality within the episode and its place within Trek canon - where and how it fits in and when and where it was referenced elsewhere in Trek. But on the whole, it's an annoying way to watch TOS. Sorry to disappoint if it's something to which you are/were looking forward. Just MHO.

Mmmmm, Yes, I had heard similar reviews Dale, which is a shame as the promotions showed great promise Dip in again after a few weeks it may just require 'bedding in' time.........I hope. Why don't you submit your impressions to the production company involved Dale, in my experience such insights are highly sought after by production houses.....could lead to a gig

They run these on G4, though I don't think G4 produced them... I think they're of fannish origin. Gave me a giggle on the initial viewing. Seems hip-hop culture (much to my personal chagrin) has invaded EVERYTHING.
On "Deal or No Deal" the other night the contestant, asked about her job, said "I teach hip-hop."
I spent the rest of the evening going: "She teaches... hip-hop. She TEACHES hip-hop. She's a hip-hop teacher." I just couldn't get my mind around it. I hope it's not a goverment-funded course.

Here in Britain Dale she would not only be government funded, they would probably start a whole three year course at a university for it ;D Love democracy, a system of representation that is wagged by the tail, ;D roll on Armageddon and our brave new world of balance and pure peace and prosperity for all A

Well, my review of StarTrek 2.0 is at the top of this thread... but what do *I* know? This is from TrekToday.com:
June 17, 2006 - 8:03 PM How to market a 40-year-old series to a target audience of 18-34 year olds? That was the task of Neal Tiles when he became president of the G4 cable network president, resulting in an interactive version of the original Star Trek that is now the network's top-rated show.
"We did a rather unique take on the classic Star Trek and created this interactive overlay," Tiles explained to Broadcasting & Cable. By adding screens with Star Trek statistics and trivia and a web site where fans could leave comments that might later scroll across the screen, he attracted many of the network's more than 55 million subscribers - an audience largely comprised of young male gamers.
"It was a very limited-appeal channel with no ratings," said Comcast's Jeff Schell. "We've had very strong success in kick-starting the ratings...they've really made G4 a cross-platform kind of brand."
For nearly a year, G4 has sustained steady gains in its viewership. The network now produces podcasts and provides video-on-demand on its web site and Comcast's On Demand feature. 1.3 million viewers have watched promotional spots for Star Trek 2.0 on video site YouTube.
