Hi! My last (latest, I mean ) convention was Collectormania in April - www.collectormania.com (sadly I missed London Expo in May - but you guys have so many conventions in UK that it is difficult to find the time and money to come over often. So far, my boss has been very good allowing my to take my holidays according to Star Trek convention schedule . Thanks also to Ryan Air for providing affordable tickets and to you guys for great accommodation!) So Collectormania was it ... yes thanks to anubis constant praise of this event I really wanted to check it out and I thought it was very good, a few Star Trek stars - great to see Jolene Blalock doing her walkabout as a normal human being in the shopping centre and cool Nichelle Nichols who really looked like she wanted to be there meeting fans. Being a huge Stargate fan, I also enjoyed seeing "Jonas" - Corin Nemec. On my own walkabout I saw an array of scifi stars, some which I wasn't familiar with (Frazer Hines is Joe Sugden in Emmerdale Farm to me - not a Dr Who character) . I saw a few Daleks too - thanks Don for teaching me everything I now know about Dr. Who Corin Nemec (pic to the right: Sean Astin) Jamie Bamber and Katee Sackhoff (Apollo and Starbuck from new Battlestar Galactica - a great series by the way) were there looking good, Katee used the same clothes as she does in the series! www.scifi.com/battlestar/characters/ If you haven't watched Stargate I suggest you start immediately, only scifi show worth watching (almost) now when trek is gone. It has great trek moments and sometimes I think it is made with that audience in mind. It certainly hooked me once they started with some actual space ships (and not only the stargate itself as the only means of travelling through space). www.gateworld.net/ Gateworld - all about Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis Hmm this was more about Stargate than Collectormania - but hey I recommend both! Next Collectormania is FRIDAY 30TH SEPT TO SUNDAY 2ND OCT 2005 and one of the confirmed guest is Tricia Helfer from new Battlestar (no trek stars confirmed as yet) LLAP daxmaryrussel West of Sweden

Nice pics Daxmaryrussel ;D I like Stargate a lot, well it helps me sell a lot of Egyptian Art so thats a plus, but I just love the characters and stories. Not a big BG fan, I'm still into the original series....for all its faults, especially in its latter season, it was the only sci-fi series at the time that had a bit of action I'm awaiting a report later this week for Warp Core Preach from Brittney and John about the Superstar Autograph Show at Valley Forge. I am hearing that it was a very large event, so I'm eager for feedback from any source right away. If you attended Valley Forge, spill the beans. ;D

One of my favourite Convention moments happened at a London Film & Comic Convention in Wembley, and a very pleasant encounter with Claudia Christian I was probably the first person to meet her that morning and she was in great form, cheerful and very sleek and well turned out, smartest looking Star in the place We exchanged pleasantries, told her of my encounter with Jerry Doyle over a long weekend in Las Vegas, so we shared some insight, and then she happily signed my 'Flipping the Bird' picture I got from Richard Biggs Its the photo with all the Babylon 5 cast flipping the bird, famous picture, hard to get, thanks Richard. Then, after we enjoyed all of that and the photos, Claudia agreed to pose for the camera, got to tell you, she looked really good and I'm pleased the camera caught her beautifully, fab shot, great memory. If you get a chance to meet Claudia, sieze the moment its worthwhile, and she is spending a lot of time in Britain, she was signing in Swindon last week, so, get out there and meet and greet Claudia, she's a class act Watch out for Starhyke too ;D

I don't know how you do that... ;D always getting good pictures with our favourite stars, well done and cool At Creation Star Trek convention in April J P Boehmer wanted to have his picture taken with me ;D - My friends hade to pay £10 for the priviledge. Creation also showed a Starhyke trailer - doesn't seem to be my cup of tea but I will check it out anyhow. Jeremy Bulloch is in it too daxmaryrussel --- "Sometimes a feeling, Mr. Spock, is all we humans have to go on." Kirk - A Taste of Armageddon

Yes J. Paul was a pleasure to meet - and he also became an Honorary Member of EDF at the same time - YAY Funny story about the kiss - I told them to hold that position until the camera was ready - I'm sure J. Paul thought this was a ruse to get a longer kiss - but he must have felt odd with her large hubby just a few feet away - LOL - but the camera did take a while to charge up - and you could see their smiles getting wider and his eyes turned to look just as the camera was ready - which made a GREAT photo - the three of us had a laugh about that one

But after the last picture I have to say I gave it a reprieve

On the Convention Feedback thread I have to say it is very subjective. I have to admit to liking the smaller more laid back conventions where access to the guests seems to resemble a group of friends sitting around chatting. The signing fairs and larger conventions do not have the time or facilities for this to happen so much.
The London Expo has changed over the last two years and I can understand why they are diversifying at the event. It is great that they are catering to a wide spectrum of fandom but can everything be fitted comfortably under one roof.
Collectormania has an impressive guest line up at every show and free entry is a great idea. My personal dislike is the venue, shopping is not one of my strong points and shopping malls are to me like silver to a werewolf. But this is a personal hang up. I have only attended one of their events and would have to have a very good reason to try them again. This is probably also due to the fact I am still awaiting a response from my email sent to them after last Octobers event. I had found their evening event to be totally miss represented and a waste of the £15 per person (same charge for my 12 yr old)

Shame that Collectormania are not more responsive SusieG, and we never attend the special events they run because we find it difficult to get accurate details on the day. We just love tearing around the mall, buying stuff from the traders, and I charged off and bought myself two lovely tailored black shirts, Graham got a superb Italian leather casual jacket, mmmmmm, maybe you have a point SusieG On to a Convention type item, The Experience in Las Vegas organised a private evening for 120 guests to mark the final broadcast episode of Enterprise on the US UPN network. A buffet was provided which I'm told was excellent, and the episode was viewed by the guests in The Borg Theatre. Some of the actors who work at the Experience stayed by the Quarks Bar and talked to the guests in a very relaxed manner, the whole evening was a delight. Our good friend ERKING20 from the Message Boards, Eric King from Council Bluffs, Iowa, attended and had a fab time. He kindly sent us a photograph of himself, Lt.Cmdr leaning on the Captains chair (Picard would never have tolerated that Eric) with other guests to the evening, all in Starfleet costume. Wonderful picture and if you would like a copy just contact me at Warp Core Preach contact address. Eric wrote the caption. My wife gave me the trip for the Finale Party as a birthday present. When I told my boss I was coming to Vegas for this gathering he said he assumed I was the only person who dressed up at the Experience, I had this photo taken to prove him wrong. Eric King. Thank you Eric, superb photograph and a belated happy birthday from all The Posse and your friends here from The Experience Message Boards.

I thought I would post a few pics from the May 2005 London Expo We had the great pleasure of meeting Anubis for the first time at this event. One cannot speak too highly of this gentleman. The camera was playing up and I have now relieved it of active duty. Hopefully the new one will behave in a more dignified way John De Lancie Anthony Montgomery Leonard Nimoy More to follow Susieg

Aww shucks SusieG....I'm kicking my shoes, my hands are behind my back and my face is red But you got some great pictures SusieG, maybe the ban on flash photography was the reason your poor, loyal servant of a camera performed badly (feeling guilty now huh?) after all, my camera had similar probs on the day But, in fairness, your camera did give you some superb images Hey.....don't be a stranger....come down with Kev on his next yomp, or I'll have to bring my motor caravan up to Tyne & Wear.....we miss you......and Otter wants to be in a piccie with you.....wow!....what an invite ;D Hope to see your good self very soon.....I found some more XL5 images if you'd like them......oh....and I found a kewl videotape of old 1950's tv shows. Robert Shaw in 'The Buccaneers', an old early 60's 'Fireball XL5' and Hawkeye from 1956 in 'Last Of The Mohicans'....and a bunch of UFO episodes. I have the kit to duplicate these in equalised copy, so the quality is as the master tapes. You want'em, you got'em. Live Long and Prosper SusieG PS.I have a VHS of Broderick Crawford in 'Highway Patrol' and loads of US TV shows including 'Hawaii 5-0'.......oh and loads of 'Batman' shows too, you are welcome to these. Did I mention 'Thunderbirds', 'Captain Scarlett', 'Stingray' 'Space 1999' and 'The Prisoner'.....you are welcome to copies of these too....maybe you can burn to DVD and send me copies I have some 'Space Patrol' on DVD....unable to burn these...sorry

Collectormania 8 I have to admit after attending C6 I did not think I would make a return visit to this venue. But having William Shatner as a guest made this a not to be missed occasion. We picked up our virtual queue tickets and then decided to have a wander, we did not get far before we made a charming rendezvous with Anubis, Cathy, Sue and Graham. A coffee and charming conversation prepared us for the day. We then made our way to Bill Shatners signing area to find our virtual tickets were not needed as there was an open queue. We paid the signing fee and took the cover out of my Mind Meld DVD ready to be signed. I did not expect a marching band or fireworks but had not anticipated the treatment dished out by JCB (aka Julie Caitlin Brown) She marched down the line of attendees to tell!! us what we were expected to do ie: give our autograph slip to the person in the orange t shirt then hand our photo to her (JCB) who would pass it on to BS to sign, we were to keep the line moving at all times and no photographs were to be taken at all. BS arrived and within seconds the queue in front of us vanished and we were walking past as he signed the cover. Kev did manage to get BS to touch his hand but all in all I walked away feeling we had been treat like trash, JCB seems to treat the majority of attendees in this way. After a 300mile drive down I was to say the least a little deflated by this non meeting. We made our way through the crowd to meet Robert Davi, I have managed to get BHK to join me in the re runs of Profiler and have to say Robert more than made up for the Shatner experience. He chatted and posed (although the piccys did not come out too well ) and made us both feel good. The other guests we met were the same and I have to say they made our weekend a memorable one. Erin Gray was a joy and I got to touch Buck Rogers aka Gil Gerrard. A full convention report will be posted on my web site after I have recovered from the trip Here are a few pictures to give a taste of the two days Shatner makes his get away From left to right Sue, Graham, BHK and Anubis Adam West (he is still our favourite Batman) Majel Barrett Marina Sirtis Gil Gerrard and Erin Gray from buck Rogers in the 25th Century The Stormtroopers Andy Hallett Karen Allen Susieg

I had not realised how long it had been since posting in this section. Although I have to admit we have not attended many events in the past 18 months. Most of 2006 was dedicated to saving for the trip to the 40th Anniversary Creation Convention in Las Vegas. This year we have only managed to get to the London Expo, and we only spent 3 hours there
