Sadly, Michael Sheard, maybe best know for playing Mr Bronson in children's TV series Grange Hill, has left us. Mr Sheard was born in Aberdeen and he studied drama at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada) in London. He had cancer and died in his home on the Isle of Wight. Sheard also had many movie roles, including the part of Admiral Ozzel in Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back. He also played Adolf Hitler five times, most famously in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. He was also a regular guest in Doctor Who. He regularly appeared at Star Wars, cult TV and 1980s-themed conventions. The first of three autobiographies, Yes, Mr Bronson: Memoirs of a Bum Actor, was published in 1997. (Thanks to LOTNA people for info)He will be missed. daxmaryrussel --- "You, boy" Deputy Head Maurice Bronson - Grange Hill

This is a terrible loss for us - Michael Sheard was an Honorary Member of EDF and I used to exchange emails with him - he was always good to the fans.
When I first emailed him to ask if he'd join - I mentioned "...and I know you're always busy with conventions and signings..." - he replied with "Time is short, but never too short for friends." - I thought that was a great comment and showed what kind of man he was.
On a personal note - I'd like to add that he had a great love of fine whisky and liked to say "A cheap whisky is a dirty glass."
Here's raising a glass of expensive whisky to you Michael - in your honour!
