I thought about this show the other day - and can't believe we didn't have a Section for it yet We should have had one ages ago - especially since the VERY FIRST HONORARY MEMBER who I asked to become an Honorary was Tucker Smallwood ;D Tucker is an incredible man to meet - and if you EVER get the chance to - please do - I wish I had but I know others who have - so I asked him via his email - great guy

BHK,
Thank you very much for the addition of this forum, as SPACE: ABOVE & BEYONDTM was a bloody brilliant programme that was taken off the air well before its time!
I shall be aspiring to that level of quality in Hard/Military SF with my own work in FINNEGAN'S SQUADTM & QUICKSILVERTM.

Cheers, mate! ;D
We have made our request for a pitch session with the Development Producer of SPACE: The Imagination StationTM, but have not yet received notification of when we should meet with her.
The station is undergoing a lot of change prior to JAN. 1/2005, when it plans to re-launch with a "new look", so I don't expect to hear anything before that time.
Also, ChristmasTM & New Year's Eve/Day are traditionally bad times for business decisions in general, but most especially for TV production.

MISKITTYFANTASTICO,
Welcome to the domain!
I have all the episodes on VHS with the adverts edited out, & reading your post is making me think about going to my storage locker to dig them out of the box in which they’re stored.
I *almost* envy you that surprise, vexing though it was to you....

Does anyone know why this was cancelled? I quite enjoyed it. Only what I got from internet: "Why was Space: Above and Beyond cancelled? This was never clear. Since there are a lot of factors that go into a show, there are a lot of things that can make or break it. Most fans point to the poor original time slot, Sunday at 7pm, and bad marketing. In the end they didn't get the fan base needed to keep the show alive." from web-worthy.com/saab/saab-faq-01.htmlThe show seems popular enough now, in hindsight, and dvd:s have been released. However, I must admit it didn't appeal to me at all ( I'm sorry to say. Didn't like the too young, too beautiful cast and I normally don't like too much shooting and killing people (even in films ;D). That's one reason why I like Star Trek - only stun guns ;D. But then again, I think SAAB had an interesting premise which might seem more "real" than Star Trek to some and therefore more appealling maybe... www.tv.com/space-above-and-beyond/show/427/summary.html?q=%22space+above+and+beyond%22A great pity though, that all (almost) series that are cancelled in mid beat, so to speak. We never get to see how it ends. (Imagine if books were like that - ending in mid sentence ) Oh, so many of those sci-fi series I've seen sort of ended before they should end ... daxmaryrussel ---- We thought we were alone. We believed the universe was ours. Until one night in 2063, on a Earth colony 16 light-years away, they struck. Now we're at war. We fight when called, in space, on land, and at sea. To lose this war means more than defeat; to surrender is to never go home. All of us must rise to the call... above and beyond. Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen: [narration] Space Above and Beyond

Thanks Dax,
It's a shame that most things come down to viewing figures and cost rather than the story.
Cheers Arbo

I haven't seen this show since it was on tv a loong lol time ago and I loved it, thought it was great. There hasn't been a series in my mind that's come close to it. Ah well, sometimes good things come to an end too soon.
