This used to be a very busy club with a fairly high turn out in the fan stakes. Diana who headed the club also organised the Neutral Zone conventions which were held up here. Fans from across the globe attended as the cons always had an intimate, friendly atmosphere. I think the club could do with an influx of fresh fan blood so your attendance there would be welcome. I believe there is a new Captain in charge who is trying to garner more interest in the club.

Hi
Just had a look around the site for this club! Is it a playschool excursion up in Newcastle? A trip to Metroland is great for the kids but I assumed this was a meeting where you could sit around, swap tales, discuss the latest offering on the SCI FI front and generally relax with like minded people. The Metrocentre on a Saturday is for the hordes of shoppers and Metroland is somewhere to take the kids. Then we have the Centre for Life (school trip heaven).
The Darlington meets sound OK but I have to admit to wondering if it will be worth the hassle.
Dont get me wrong I have kids myself, and it is great a club is considering the needs of fans with children, but at the end of the day a meet should be held somewhere where we can chat and interact in a more fan friendly atmosphere.
Special trips are fine, but the main meeting of a club should be just that, a meeting of the club.
Sounds like a no go for this fan which is a pity as not far from the location of this club.

Normally we do. Problem is that all of the venues in Newcastle have priced themselves out of the range of the club finances so we're on a hunt for a new venue. We do have our Darlington meetings so for the moment we're holding events until March. The fact that those of us that were there met in the food court and chatted for an hour about Things .... literally the fantastic fours Thing was mentioned. I think the eyebrows could be bigger. The Metrocentre on a Saturday is for the hordes of shoppers and Metroland is somewhere to take the kids. Heck we're old fogies and we like a little adrenalin flowing through our old decrepid veins. Then again the kids couldn't take a break, pop into the Queen Vic for a pint and then back to the coaster. Then we have the Centre for Life (school trip heaven). Yeah... but no one else suggested anywhere else and there is the Spongebob motion ride. I did notice at the Christmas meet that there are a number of Spongebob fans. We're in the process of getting a venue sorted, so pop along to meetings/events and you'll get to chat with a few of us. Catchalater Keith Current Overlord of the Club

The Baron & The Baroness is a really nice pub, all gothic surroundings - the fittings come from an old church - the B&B (and all the pubs around there) are part of the gay scene and that will need to be respected.
