It seems as though this has been in development for a few years now - but it's hopefully going to be shown towards the end of this year - or early 2005. I'm not sure what to make of it yet - as they've redesigned the look of it slightly - most of it's the same - but the characters look a bit different to how they used to. We'll see how it fairs once it's aired. www.fanderson.org.uk/fanderson.html - The Official Gerry Anderson Appreciation Society

Some look good some so so, hopefully they will get the right balance of new tech and the ethos of the old show, which is very difficult to do. I had all of these on video as it was very difficult to see until it was repaeted on British television in the 90's on a regular basis.
As a huge Gerry Anderson marionation fan I love all of these shows, even the not so well know or liked Joe 90 (the box set Joe is FAB lol)
Seeing is believing and I will wait until I have seen it before I get worked up about it. I remember eagerely anticipating the live action release of the Scooby Doo movie - what a let down, so I just wait and see now.

These is probably silly but what exactly is this show about? It looks like a comic that has been made into a animae. I never really got into the comics to much A few here and there.(Spawn, some of the spider-man,Bat-man not a whole lot else though)

Hi Ladytass No it is not silly, if you are not familiar with the original show then I agree it probably does look like some kind of comic strip. This is from the same stable as Thunderbirds. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons was made in 1967 by Gerry Anderson, he again used the supermarionation technique previously used in Thunderbirds. The puppets were controlled by fine wires and the voice, which was pre recorded, controlled the mouth movements which made this series more life like. The puppets heads were smaller than their forerunners due to advances made to the lip sync components which meant the electronics were placed in the puppets chest and not in the heads. This meant for the first time the puppets had the correct human proportion figures. For pictures and info on this wonderful series try the following link www.bbc.co.uk/cult/anderson/scarlet/For my birthday last year I got the Joe 90 box set which contains all of the episodes ever made, of all of the Anderson puppet shows this is the one repeated least of all. It was not as popular as Thunderbirds, Stingray or Captain Scarlett. I also loved his live action shows U.F.O and Space 1999, although I dont know if you are familiar with either of these. Sorry to warble on Susieg

Chris Bentley, chairman of Fanderson, the official Gerry Anderson fan club says a new TV series of Thunderbirds could be in the pipeline.
TV series Thunderbirds celebrates its 40th anniversary next year and Bentley, who penned the Complete Gerry Anderson, says a new TV series could be in the pipeline. He explains: "Gerry has said he has had talks with Granada who own the rights about a possible CGI animation series once he has finished his current Captain Scarlet CGI series, due out in 2005. The new Scarlet is tipped to be his best ever series."

BHK,
Thanks for the intel!
I had heard about a CGI remake of CAPTAIN SCARLET & THE MYSTERONS™ when I read an interview with MR. GERRY ANDERSON wherein he talked of how very disappointed he was by SPY KIDS 4: ISLAND OF GIANT ROCKETS™, aka JONATHAN FRAKES’S “re-imagined” THUNDERBIRDS™ feature film.
Given that MR. ANDERSON was not involved with it as Executive Producer, I am unsurprised @ the film which resulted, particularly since his work was not acknowledged in the closing credits, but MS. SYLVIA ANDERSON’S was.
I wish that the original S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M™ logo was being used, but so long as CAPTAIN BLACK still looks like MR. OLIVER REED, I shouldn’t be very hard to please.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
SUSIEG,
I *loved* JOE 90™ & SECRET SERVICE™ when I was a kid!
Everyone else I knew wanted to be ROBIN™ to MR. ADAM WEST’S BATMAN™ (1966), but I always wanted to sit in that chair with the spinning thingy around it, & have that great theme music & incidental music scored by MR. BARRY GRAY to complement my adventures.
U.F.O.™ made me weep when I learned that S.H.A.D.O™ is a fictional organisation into which I would never be inducted, again partly because of the bleedin’ excellent theme music & score by MR. BARRY GRAY.
SPACE: 1999™ was a programme that I enjoyed mainly because of MR. BARRY GRAY’S work, rather than the programme itself, but I found the colour scheme of the uniforms appealing because even a civilian could tell @ once who was in charge, & of what.
I also liked that MOONBASE ALPHA™ did not have the luxury of flying away from whatever peril they might encounter (unlike U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™!), so the Dramatic Conflict was very high stakes all the time, without the luxury of adjourning to a conference room to determine how best to handle any given threat.
I would not be upset if a new CGI THUNDERBIRDS™ were to be produced with MR. GERRY ANDERSON @ the helm once again, but how on Earth does one replace MR. BARRY GRAY? The only other bloke whom I can think of who is worthy of the task is MR. JOHN BARRY.
I had no expectations either way in connection with SCOOBY DOO™, so when @ last I did see it, I was pleasantly surprised, particularly by the casting of the actress who portrayed VELMA, a character with whom I have been in love since 1969, & who has influenced my taste in women in Real Life ever since then.

Malcolm I am so pleased to find a fellow Joe 90 fan, I remember when the box set came out on DVD and I was lucky enough to have it given to me as a present for my birthday . My children think I have reverted back to my childhood (never left it really ;D) The music of Barry Gray was always inspiring, I play the original theme from Thunderbirds constantly as I find it so uplifting. I think the original themes stand the test of time. Play the original Thunderbirds theme and see how many (even the younger generation) can name the show. I have always had a love for all of the Gerry Anderson shows. It was a treat for me to be able to watch U.F.O. when it was first broadcast as I was still fairly young then, and I also thought it was real Scooby Doo.....as an avid watcher of the cartoon I have to admit to being disappointed but you are right concerning the casting of Velma. Linda Cardellini was a perfect Velma and I was most suprised by Matthew Lillard's characterisation of Shaggy. Susieg

SUSIEG,
Since we are both in childhood mode, then I must express some surprise @ having had to wait this long in life to encounter “a girl” who likes JOE 90™! How many episodes are in the DVD Box Set?
The music of MR. BARRY GRAY continues to be inspirational to me, & the THUNDERBIRDS™ march is perhaps my favourite piece of music that has been composed in a major key. My favourite primary school Music teacher, MS. ASHTON, insisted that we view any & all programmes scored by MR. GRAY (with especial emphasis upon THUNDERBRIDS™!) because she wanted us to understand that Classical Music was alive & well in The 20th Century. Inspired by her, I later discovered the works of MR. JOHN BARRY, whose brilliance is well-documented.
I was *absolutely convinced* that U.F.O.™ was extant in Objective Reality, which is why it chilled me to the bone when we learned the reason behind the alien invasion
I was quite impressed by how accurately MATTHEW LILLARD impersonated CASEY KASEM as SHAGGY, particularly since his interpretation of the character caused me to realise that SCOOBY DOO™ talks only to him, which is perfect stoner logic that went under the radar of TV censors & most parents in 1969, & also explains why SHAGGY always has "the munchies".
MS. LINDA CARDELLINI was utterly flawless as VELMA, methought, & she reminded me of every librarian & primary schoolteacher whom I ever lusted after in childhood & adolescence, definitely the kind of personality with whom one would want to be stranded alone on a desert island.

The repeat of the first 13 episodes of Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet has turned up with little ceremony on Tuesday afternoons at 4.30pm on ITV1 in the UK We no longer have to suffer the horrendous Ministry of Mayhem to catch our hero in CGI form. For the Tuesday screenings, we get the end credits reinstated ITV bosses stated they were 'very pleased' with the ratings for the initial 13 part run so why not give the show a slightly later air time so the larger 'kids' can manage to view. Work is proceeding on the second production block of 13 episodes that will make up the first full season of New Captain Scarlet, but these will not be completed until the end of the Summer. There are also plans for an October extras-stuffed DVD release to appeal directly to the Christmas market. Bandai have already showcased various merchandise items connected to the series at the London Toy Fair, and other manufacturers are looking to create product in all the usual sectors of TV-related memorabilia you can possibly imagine. For further details, visit the official New Captain Scarlet website at www.captainscarlet.com or the Fanderson website at www.fanderson.org.uk.
