Sticking with the original Movies - which do you think was the best?
I personally think the original had a terrific atmosphere of suspense - but the second was the best Action Movie - but I do think all of them are cool ;D

Must admit - voted for "Aliens" - but it was a close one

I also voted for the second one.It just had the air of great sci-fi/horror movie I think the first one was good but it lacked a bit in character development which you get in Aliens, but it was a close call with the third one a hard choice,Resurrection had a decent plot but I thought that they sort of cut it off at the knee's it was a bit far fetched with the whole crossing of the two species--I believe that Ripley would have killed herself instead of being used that way.I did like the new model of Android though that had a good start....

BHK,
I might have felt differently if I had been permitted to see ALIEN™ (1979) @ the cinema, but I found it incredibly boring the first time I saw it, & the NOSTROMO™ crew quite dim.
If I had been there, that little monster would have been killed upon emerging from that bloke’s abdomen, regardless of what the android said about “Don’t kill it!”
Since when does a crew take orders from anyone other than the captain about a life-threatening alien lifeform?!
ELLEN RIPLEY was the only sensible crewmember, since it was she who insisted upon quarantine after that face-hugger broke through the JOHN HURT character’s faceplate.
I have seen ALIENS™ countless times because it has several different forms of jeopardy & multi-tiered Dramatic Conflict, but I also enjoy ALIEN RESURRECTION™ despite the miscasting of the android.
BISHOP was my favourite character, however: “I’ll do it. Believe me, I prefer not to. I may be synthetic, but I’m not stupid.”
I was very cross @ the manner in which BISHOP, HICKS & NEWT were given short shrift in ALIEN3™.
I’m still trying to rationalise the fleshy ALIEN™ & why it would kill the ALIEN QUEEN™, as well as the sensual interplay between the former & RIPLEY’S CLONE.

Possibly because he was the Science Officer and they maybe considered him to know something they didn't? ...I’m still trying to rationalise the fleshy ALIEN™ & why it would kill the ALIEN QUEEN™, as well as the sensual interplay between the former & RIPLEY’S CLONE.
The "Newborn" Hybrid Alien didn't consider the "Alien Queen" to be her mother - but thought "Ripley 8" was due to being able to sense her DNA. I must admit - the forth Movie was great until we saw the Newborn - which didn't look right to me - although the failled clones were awesome. What we need now is a GREAT Movie to make up for the shortfall which was "Alien Vs. Predator"

BHK,
I would have forced the smarmy b*st*rd to restrain me as I tried to kill it, “Science Officer” or not.
What gave you the impression that the ALIEN™ Hybrid was female?
I wondered why the failed RIPLEY clones were being kept.
Perhaps The ALIENS™ versus PREDATOR™ Director’s Cut will bear some fruit that is worth digesting.

Hi again Malcolm - I'm really enjoying this Alien chat I assume the failed clones were kept for study - just my guess. I have the making of Alien 4 were I seem to remember them discussing the "Newborn" as her - but I'll recheck later today to confirm this the concept sketches were decidedly female with more gender detailing which was toned down before construction of the suits/models/cgi - but please note that the Hybrid has breasts - lol I'll see if I can get more details posted here

BHK,
Likewise, mate.
I understand that “study” is the rationalisation for keeping monstrosities around in glass cases, but what I cannot divine is the exact strategic & tactical use of keeping dead things around, particularly when RIPLEY #8 had such acute telempathic abilities & olfactory senses.
I shall have to re-watch my copy of ALIEN RESURRECTION™ in order to ascertain the Newborn’s gender.

Malcolm I think you may have had the same opinion of the movie even if you had seen it in the cinema. I took my mother to see this at the cinema when it came out and to be honest after all of the hype we were anticipating an evening of scares The movie itself was OK but we were almost ejected from the cinema as we could not contain the laughter when the Alien burst from Ash's abdomen. The other moviegoers were not very impressed with us and we left the cinema not very impressed. Bishop was also my favourite character from the movies Susieg

SUSIEG,
I suspect you are correct, although I did find the ALIEN™ bursting from the JOHN HURT character’s thorassic cavity to be rather unpleasant in terms of imagining how it might feel to have that happen to oneself, but most especially because I would have attempted to kill the bloody thing while I could.
BISHOP is the bloke whom I would rather have had in charge of the NOSTROMO™ in the first place, since he actually had Ethics.
