This is just a quick dilemma I've having at the moment...
No names mentioned - but one of the Admin on here keeps "playing" with the Admin Functions - which has previously resulted in locked threads, locked entire sections, and locking individual Members from the Boards - apparently "just to see what happens".
Some changes have taken me months to sort out - and generally given me loads of extra work to do - and caused some Members who were locked out to cancel their Memberships to the Message Boards.
After promising not to do it again - they still are - so do we drop them from the Command Staff and remove their Admin / Moderator Status?
I know this is quite drastic - but the problems caused have on occassion seriously harmed the Boards.
Feedback on this would be MOST appreciated.

Actually - I've taken the next step and removed some of their admin access - as I've just been reviewing the Security Logs and noticed they'd also been playing with the overall appearance of the entire Forum - and editing Members Profiles - I have no idea why they would even consider doing this

I have to admit the last time major playing around with the boards resulted in my leaving the forum (Proxy Server's faith brought me back) I was locked out and demoted and password protected areas had been introduced without full discussion with all moderators (me included) I have checked my profile and it seems to be OK. There is no need for anyone to go into members profiles or into the apearance of the boards. The old adage 'Too many cooks' comes to mind.

So i will bow out. so please remove me from the staff members list and demoted. look like i have been demoted mesa Commander now not naming me makes no difference we have clever people on here.they know 1+1 =2 all ithought i did was create the lotna thread, to save you doing it. as you are very busy sent you a post straight away to say so know nothing of the playing with the overall appearance of the entire Forum - and editing Members Profiles, only my own There is no need for anyone to go into members profiles apart from there own or into the apearance of the boards. - since this is out in the open as it should be, whose profiles were altered. in my defence i have to say.i only found out i had the admin tool last night after a 4 month break.so would not say i have not kept "playing" with the Admin Functions . and thank you for telling me about this thread.it would have been upsetting to come across it,with out being warned. could you post the Security Logs that cover this iccident and explain the logs to the forum as many members will be worried as susieg was that her profile was altered. or is it i looked at members profiles while in admin mode. you have the facts kev please explain them on the open forum i feel a bit tarred here. let me wash it off in public there is question to be answered and a full edf investagaton is need into this matter and i would like it in the open to restore peoples faith in me and i need you to teach me how to use the admin tool properly. i shall change my siggy occordinly

I'm unsure of who all the people are with admin function access? D

...well that solves why you left the board, i was because of me,again i know nothing of the demoting of you... I don't know how you can say that as it was all explained to you in detail at the time and you sent an apology to Susieg - the reasons she left were all documented at the time - including Geordilinka creating a Private Section on here and locking Susieg (and many others) out - "playing" with the Admin Tools which demoted LOTS of Members - locking Threads - locking entire Sections - it was also in protest over Kronlaths shabby treatment of Captain Christine Hurt - and him taking a tantrum when it was pointed out he was wrong. The current problem was that you had been - once again - "playing" with the Admin Tools - THEY ARE NOT A TOY - the result THIS time was once again locked Threads - scambled Sections - and editing Members Profiles - not Susieg's either - three other Members who do not want to be mentioned as they know they'll get tons of PM's from you. All in all - you make a GREAT Member - enthusiastic, active and sociable - but can't be trusted with the Admin Tools - sorry.

I think the admin buttons should be left to KEV, I myself never even access the area as I know thet changing one thing can have an impact on other sections.
Geordi is a longstanding active member who were know both personally and online. I am sure he did not mean any harm when in the admin function area but this is not the first time playing around has caused problems.
Maybe it is better for only the boards administrator to have the ability to change the board. I know Ladytass is well versed in the admin functions as she runs her own forum very well and she is the only other person on here who I think would be at home in the admin area.
I only said my profile was OK because it was stated one had been accessed, I never intended to infer my profile was the one which had been accessed.
We need to draw a line under this and move on.

i am sorry for the trouble me trying to use the admin mode caused. I do not wish to have the admin mode,as it has been shown that i am not trained enough in it. of the three altered profiles ,i have no knowledge of ever doing it.as i have no reason to...... but i am sure we will find out whats behind it one day. i am happy with the outcome of the edf enquiry. and abide by it ruling. no need for being sorry kev. i just did not no the domino effect, All i wanted to do was create a section for LOTNA nothing else,to help you out. but again it my helping has not worked so no more "helping" from me i shall leave it to the experts

Even if you're not sure, they have a full description of EXACTLY what they do beside them. I don't think Geordilinka was deliberately trying to sabotage the message boards, but merely blindly stabbing at buttons without reading what they did.

Actually I'd like to agree with the Fleet Captain's comments on here, that Geordilinka IS a great member as he contributes to the posts.

Geordi, I would love to help you out there. Do you have Yahoo or MSN messanger? you pick the day--it would have to be after next monday though, because we are leaving on a short trip on Friday. Did you want me to help you set up a whole site? I know you have one but we could transfer over what you have to a proboard---or get you going on a new site-- I won't be able to help you on the one you have it isn't a board and I can't get into the coding to show you what to do-- or I have a old Goliath board ATF that is laying dormant--LOL--We could go in there and it won't matter if things get messed up-- so I could teach you how to do alot of stuff. If you would like a really good easy to follow HTML guide the one I started with is free it is at www.pagetutor.com -- It takes you through step by step instructions on how to do a html encoded web page. You can also download the tutor-- they encourage you to do it-- so when you have the time you can go back through it all at your leisure and play around with your page-- LOL--the only problem is that Page tutor doesn't host the pages after you make them so you have to find a host which isn't actually very hard to do--Geocities on Yahoo does it for free if you are a member, also Angellfire will host your page for free--but with Angelfire you have to watch out for adware-- there are a few others I can think of also. Or you can start off at Yahoo Geocities and use the page tutor guide there also-- that is usually the easiest--you have to have your browser open 2 times when you do it that way but that is not hard to do. If you would like to see a page I set up using page tutor check out www.geocities.com/ladytass2001/index.htmlIt was one of the first one's I set up.
